There exist different types of skin cancer. Some are less aggressive such as the basal skin cancer and other are extremely aggressive such as the malignant melanoma. These injuries are produced almost exclusively due to the prolonged exposition of the patient’s skin to the sun; therefore they are usually presented in parts of the body which are exposed to the sun. In larger injury cases o malignant scenarios, the treatment must be performed by your Plastic Surgeon since he is the qualified professional who may perform the respective reconstruction and at the same time the surgery. Some of these injuries, depending on the histological type and the extension may require chemotherapy or radiotherapy according to each case. In these situations, the treatment becomes multidisciplinary, with the participation of the Oncology Doctor, Psychiatrist and other specialists according to each case.
