The patients that are submitted to the removal of one of their breasts due to Breast Cancer, the Breast reconstruction is fundamental in order to maintain the form of the women´s body and therefore avoid the depression you may feel when you see your breasts mutilated in that manner. The Reconstruction may be preferably performed immediately after the breast is removed; however the same can be performed thereafter, once the patient has finished with their oncological treatment. The Reconstruction can be done by using the tissue of the patients own body such as the inferior abdomen known as the TRAMflap or the tissue of the wide dorsal muscle of the back. Another form of Reconstruction consists in the use of special breast implants for this purpose; sometimes proceeded by tissue expansors as a previous way to stretch the skin or the use of the expansors implants which both do their functions at the same time. Presently the surgery of the Breast Cancer tends to be more conservative in regards to the tissues it preserves, which makes the reconstruction of the breast either performed immediately or later on to obtain results of greater quality with less aggressive procedures.
