The treatment for patients with burns is exclusive to a Plastic Surgeon. The burns may be of different scales and complexity. In simple cases you would require only the participation of a Plastic Surgeon. In the cases of severe and extensive burns the participation of a multi disciplinary team is required which includes the Plastic Surgeon, the Intensivist, the Physical Therapist and other medical disciplines in accordance with the medical background of the patient.

The most important matter in a burned patient is the treatment of its acute phase, since this is what will guarantee the patients life. Also, the local treatment of the burns with the proper cleaning, auto-implants of the skin in the deep burns, the use of flaps and the adequate physical and scare rehabilitation is what will provide the best final result to the patient.
