Cosmetic, Facial and Corporal Clinic
Nose surgery is called Rhinoplasty. This is a procedure that is done on an outpatient basis, with general anesthesia or local anesthesia with sedation, depending on the type of procedure to be conducted. All the incisions are made inside the nose and half of them are renovated cartilage and bone structures that serve as a skeleton to the nose and which provide the form. Surgery can consist in a reduction in cases of prominent noses or an increase of a nose in cases of low projection.
For a surgery increase either cartilage or the patients own bone can be used or silastic nasal implants, which is an inert material to the body can be used. The technique used in each particular case should be discussed with your doctor after the assessment to be made in consultation preoperatively. After surgery a nasal splint is placed, which is an external bandage that has to be maintained for a week, after this time it may be removed and the patient can return to their normal work.
