In patients that smoke there are more complications in the healing of wounds due to the commitment of the capillary circulation caused by nicotine.

There are different techniques used in order to perform this procedure and techniques that can be classified into open and endoscopic techniques. This is performed as an outpatient procedure, but many prefer to stay overnight in the surgery center. The open techniques involve scars on the scalp, in front of and behind the ear. The open techniques will require around 3 weeks in order for you to reassume your work. The endoscopic techniques, which are the most recent, involve small incisions in the scalp area and placement of special traction wires, leaving no scars around the ear. The recovery is faster, about 8 days.
